Environmental DNA: A Window into Pollinator (and other flower-dependent) Communities
Professor Elloise “Elli” Leadbeater’s talk is about work that she and her colleagues have done using environmental DNA samples to detect bees, and many more insects, on flowers.
You may be participating in the optional contribution in your annual subscription to the Ron White Bee Research fund from which Elli’s team’s research had benefited. Elli will bring us up to date on the work that HWBKA has helped to support over the last year.
Please join your colleagues to hear this doubtless fascinating talk.
Ellouise “Elli” Leadbeater, an ecologist and evolutionary biologist, was appointed Professor of Ecosystems and Biodiversity Research at University College London in 2024. Previously, Elli was a lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London where in 2019 she was appointed Professor of Ecology and Evolution.
On her UCL profile, Elli says, “I am interested in how animal behaviour evolves, and how it functions in anthropogenic landscapes. My research incorporates elements of ecology, evolution, neuroscience and psychology, and I work mainly with insects: Bombus (bumblebees), Apis (honeybees) and Drosophila (fruit flies). I’m a member of UCL’s People and Nature Lab.”
